Tom Moody, the global director of cricket for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), clarified the reasons behind fast bowler Mayank Yadav's absence during the initial weeks of the Indian Premier League (IPL). His lack of participation was attributed to insufficient match readiness rather than any fitness issues. Yadav's path has been challenging, marked by injuries and extensive rehabilitation, which have sidelined him for more than a year. Last season, he managed to play only two matches, with his last appearance on May 4, where he conceded 60 runs against the Punjab Kings.

Selection Challenges with Yadav's Return

Moody mentioned that Yadav is now prepared to return to the squad after considerable effort, but his comeback poses a selection challenge. The bowling unit has been performing admirably, while the batting lineup has struggled to deliver adequate support. "He has worked exceptionally hard and is now at a point where he can contribute. However, this creates a selection dilemma since our bowling has been quite effective, but we need more runs," Moody explained.

As reported by ESPNcricinfo, ahead of LSG's match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 14, Yadav practiced spot bowling at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Currently, Lucknow Super Giants are positioned seventh in the points table and are looking to put up a strong fight against the third-placed Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the same venue on Wednesday.
