Android Verified Caller Feature: A big relief news is coming for Android users. Amidst the increasing cases of fake calls and bank fraud, Google is now preparing to introduce a new security feature, which will alert users before fake calls. The special thing is that this feature will work directly in the phone system, which will further strengthen the security. With the help of this feature, the phone will automatically tell whether the incoming call is a fraud or a fake call. In countries like India, where scam calls have become common, this update can prove to be very important for crores of people.

What is the verified caller feature?

According to the report of Android Authority, Google is developing a new verified caller feature, which will be part of Google Play Services. The report states that this feature is being designed to weaken the spoofing methods used by scammers. In spoofing, fraudsters call a trusted number like a bank or helpline number. This feature can identify such numbers and warn the user in advance. The special thing is that it will not be limited to any one calling app, but will work in the entire Android system.

How different will the new system be from the old features?

Till now, a feature called Verified Calls was available in Android, but it was limited only to Google's Phone app. The new verified caller system is being taken forward so that smartphone users of all brands can benefit from it. According to the report, this feature will also work in phones like Vivo, Oppo, Samsung, Realme and OnePlus. This means that no matter which company's Android phone the user is using, he will get the same level of security. This change can make Android more secure and reliable than before.

How will DNO number and bank fraud be stopped?

The biggest focus of this new feature is to prevent misuse of DNO i.e. Do Not Originate Number. These are numbers which are meant only for receiving calls, like helpline numbers of banks or government agencies. Scammers cheat people by misusing these numbers. The new system will match calls against the database of such numbers and if any suspicious call comes, it will flag it in advance. It has also been said in the report that the bank apps present in the phone can also share their DNO numbers, which will further strengthen the security. Due to this, there may be a big reduction in fake call fraud in the coming time.
