Priyansh Arya, the in-form opener of Punjab Kings, has revealed that his impressive six-hitting ability is not the result of specific power-hitting drills but rather his focus on timing the ball cleanly.

Speaking after earning the Player of the Match award, Arya explained that he does not dedicate separate practice sessions to hitting sixes. Instead, his preparation revolves around maintaining good timing and making solid contact, which naturally allows him to clear the boundary with ease.

“I don’t practice six-hitting that much. I just try to time the ball as well as possible, and that naturally helps me,” Arya said, emphasizing his simple and effective approach to batting.

The young batter showcased this philosophy in style during his explosive innings against Lucknow Super Giants, where he smashed nine sixes. He noted that his priority at the crease is to strike the ball cleanly, with boundaries and maximums coming as a byproduct of proper execution rather than premeditated aggression.

Arya also acknowledged the role of his fitness and structured training over the past six months under team trainers Anand sir and Birla bhaiya, crediting them for his overall growth as a cricketer.

On his mental approach, Arya prefers to keep things uncomplicated. He believes that overcommunication during partnerships can lead to unnecessary thoughts, and instead chooses to stay focused and play with clarity.

“I feel if we talk too much, too many thoughts come into my mind. It’s better to keep it simple and play with a clear mind,” he added.

Reflecting on his innings, Arya picked a standout moment — a controlled slash over point for six — as his favorite shot of the match, highlighting both his timing and confidence at the crease.
