I think the destruction in Kalimantan is already out of control. The construction of a new capital of Indonesia, a palm oil plantation, and an illegal mine has destroyed most of the Kalimantan wilderness and that is bad for the environment.

4. Have you heard or read any folktales from Kalimantan? Can you give an example?

Yes i have it is called The Legend of the Crying Stone (Batu Menangis)

This is perhaps the most famous folktale from West Kalimantan.

The Story: A beautiful but arrogant girl named Darmi is ashamed of her poor, hard-working mother. While walking to the market, she tells onlookers that her mother is actually her servant.

The Outcome: Heartbroken, the mother prays for her daughter to be punished. The girl's body slowly turns into stone, and as she begs for forgiveness, tears fall from the stone eyes.

Moral: It teaches deep respect for parents and the consequences of pride and disobedience.
