Earlier the Indian Postal Department was the biggest medium of communication between people, but with time technology has changed its role. In this changing era, the Indian Postal Department has reshaped itself and achieved a major economic achievement. In the financial year 2025-26, the department has earned a revenue of Rs 15,296 crore, which is about 16 percent more than Rs 13,218 crore in the previous financial year 2024-25.
Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said after the annual business meeting of the Postal Department that this year has been historic for the department. According to him, the Postal Department has not only modernized its services but has also rapidly transformed itself according to the needs of the customers. He said that the department is no longer limited to just delivering letters, but is also working rapidly in the direction of banking, logistics and digital services. Special attention has been paid to improving quality of services, acquiring new customers and implementing high service standards like Six Sigma, which has had a direct impact on revenue growth.
The secret of the historical growth of the postal department

The Postal Department has modernized its working style and adopted new technologies and services, which has had a direct impact on its performance. Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that the department is now continuously working on increasing the reach of its services, adding new customers and implementing high service standards of Six Sigma level. Due to this strategy, better results are expected in the next financial year.
He said that this year has been very historic for the postal department. During this period, the department has also launched three new products, which has further expanded the scope of its services. According to the Minister, the focus now is on expanding services, reaching more customers and improving performance with strict quality standards, so that the same pace of growth continues in future. He also said that after a long time the Postal Department has achieved a growth rate of more than 15 percent and the effort is to maintain this pace in the future also.
