Dasun Shanaka: After Blessing Muzarabani, Pakistan Cricket Board has now banned Sri Lankan star all-rounder Dasun Shanaka.
Dashun Shanaka: Amidst the glow of IPL 2026, Pakistan Super League is once again in the headlines. Let us tell you, after Blessing Muzarabani, Pakistan Cricket Board has now banned Sri Lankan star all-rounder Dasun Shanaka.
Actually, Sri Lankan all-rounder Dasun Shanaka was to play for Lahore Qalandars in Pakistan Super League 2026, but he withdrew his name just before the start of the tournament. After this he joined the IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals, where he was included in the team as a replacement for Sam Curran. The Pakistan Cricket Board considered this a breach of contract and took strict action and banned Shanaka for one year.
The thing to note is that this is not the first time that PCB has taken action against a player who left PSL and chose IPL. Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board also took action against Blessing Muzarabani and banned him. Let us tell you, Muzarabani had to face a ban of 2 years due to his association with IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders. Whereas he was going to play for Islamabad United in PSL 2026.
However, questions were raised about this decision of PCB. Blessing Muzarabani’s agency had issued a statement and rejected the claim of Pakistan Cricket Board. They said that there was no official agreement regarding the contract violation being talked about. According to the agency, only the announcement was made on social media. Apart from this, Muzarabani had also raised the question that when there was no formal agreement, then on what basis was Pajir banned.
