Bharti Airtel, one of the country's leading telecom companies, has delivered a jolt to its users by making changes to its prepaid portfolio. The company has hiked the price of its plan, offering an 84-day validity period. Previously available for ₹859, this plan will now be available for ₹899. Furthermore, the company has completely discontinued its ₹799 plan. This clearly indicates that Airtel is gradually moving towards making its plans more expensive.

**What Benefits Does the ₹899 Plan Offer?**

With this ₹899 plan, users will continue to enjoy unlimited local, STD, and national roaming calling facilities, just as before. Additionally, 100 SMS per day will be provided. In terms of data, this plan offers 1.5GB of data per day for a period of 84 days. If you exhaust your daily data allowance, your internet speed will be throttled down to 64kbps.

**Additional Benefits Included**

This plan also comes with several extra perks. Users are being offered access to Adobe Express Premium for 12 months, spam protection alerts for calls and messages, and the benefit of a free 'Hello Tune' once every 30 days. However, the 'RewardsMini' cashback benefit that was previously included with this plan has now been removed. The company has not yet issued an official statement regarding this change.

**Plans Are Gradually Becoming More Expensive**

While this price hike may not appear significant—and is currently limited to just a single plan—it serves as an indication of future trends within the telecom sector. The company is gradually reducing the discounts offered on its popular 1.5GB data plans. The objective behind this strategy may be to encourage users to migrate to 5G services and to boost the company's Average Revenue Per User (ARPU).

Is a Major Tariff Hike on the Horizon?
Based on the manner in which this change has currently been implemented, it does not appear that a sweeping price hike across all plans simultaneously is imminent. Typically, telecom companies announce major tariff revisions all at once. Therefore, for the time being, this is being viewed as a limited and strategic adjustment, specifically designed to manage the company's most frequently utilized plans.

This is not the first instance of Airtel raising the prices of its plans. Previously, the company had increased the price of its Global International Roaming pack from ₹4,000 to ₹4,999.
