Apple is gearing up to introduce a major overhaul to Siri for its iPhone users with the release of iOS 27. According to reports, the company may unveil the first official preview of the new Siri at the WWDC 2026 event. This time around, Siri is expected to be significantly smarter—not just in terms of design, but also regarding its AI capabilities.

According to a report by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple has already offered a glimpse of the new Siri's design within the teaser artwork for WWDC 2026. It is reported that the new Siri interface will feature a glowing effect, which is expected to look particularly striking when viewed in Dark Mode.

Perhaps the most significant change is that Siri will now integrate directly with the Dynamic Island. This means that when a user activates Siri, the pill-shaped section of the Dynamic Island will expand, potentially displaying a prompt such as "Search or Ask." This may also be accompanied by a glowing cursor, making the interaction with Siri feel more interactive than ever before.

According to reports, Apple may also introduce a new standalone Siri app. Within this app, users would be able to review their past conversations and experience a more seamless connection between Siri and Spotlight Search.

Smarter than ChatGPT?
In terms of features, Siri in iOS 27 is expected to function much like AI chatbots such as ChatGPT. Users will be able to ask multiple questions simultaneously, maintain continuous conversations, and Siri will be better equipped to understand the user's personal context. Furthermore, its ability to comprehend on-screen content is also expected to see significant improvements.
Some reports also suggest that Apple may utilize Google's Gemini AI. This possibility has gained further traction following a deal reportedly struck between the two companies in January.
