Two Conch Shells Benefits: Conch is considered to have special importance in Hindu religion. The tradition of starting puja, aarti and auspicious works with the sound of conch has been going on for centuries. It is believed that the sound of conch purifies the environment and drives away negative energy. But very few people know that there is a tradition of keeping not just one but two conch shells in the puja room, one for blowing and the other for worship.
According to religious beliefs, which shell is played, it is not used directly in worship. The blowing of conch is considered to be impure due to breath and sound, hence it is used only for sound. At the same time, the second conch is kept completely sacred, in which water is filled and anointed to God or used in worship.
The conch used in worship is considered very sacred. Filling water in it and offering it to God is considered very auspicious. It is believed that the water kept in the conch becomes as pure as the Ganges water and consecrating it brings happiness and prosperity to the house. Apart from this, it is also said that Shankha is considered to be associated with Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu, hence keeping it in the house brings wealth and peace.
The sound of conch is considered beneficial not only from religious point of view but also from scientific point of view. It is believed that it increases positive energy in the environment. Bacteria and negative elements are reduced and the mind gets peace and concentration.
According to religious belief, if the same conch is used for both blowing and worship, the purity of the worship may be affected. Therefore, it has been advised in the scriptures to keep it separate.
It is not enough to keep just two conch shells, it is also important to keep them in the right way. The conch to be blown should be kept on a white cloth and the conch to be worshiped should always be kept on a brass or copper stand filled with rice. But keep in mind that both the conch shells should not touch each other.
