I'm A Celebrity: South Africa contestant Adam Thomas was devastated at the idea of being axed from the ITV show when his teammate Jimmy Bullard opted to quit during a Bushtucker Trial. The decsion would have resulted in Adam coming last with Jimmy by default and automatically sending him home, which resulted in a huge row between the pair. The actor was visibly upset over the idea of going home, especially being sent packing over his co-star's decision to leave, but hosts Ant and Dec spoke to production and it resulted in him being able to stay.
He was tearing up because he wanted to make his children proud, but reports have emerged that suggest it was far more than this that resulted in Adam's frustration at going home as he continues to focus on his long-term career goals.
After a number of Adam's roles have fizzled out, including the cancellation of this show 99 To Beat and presenting Extra Camp, he has previously said that when he is positive about something "gets cancelled".
And now, according to The Sun, Adam is now focusing on his long-term career after "needing the limelight" to try and give himself an extra push. A source told the publication: "It has been very bitty with appearances here and there on various panel shows, and then back into Waterloo Road and podcasts in his front room with his brothers.
"He's clearly desperately trying to stay in as long as he can so as to appeal to programme-makers." They added that a great strength of Adam's is that he's an "extremely likeable bloke".
People have rushed to support Adam during his time on I'm A Celeb, including issuing complaints to Ofcom after David Haye's reaction to him opting not to do a trial due to being unwell. Adam, who has an autoimmune condition psoriatic arthritis, struggled with fatigue and dehydration since he has been in camp.
However, when he said he wouldn't be doing the trial, David fumed: "Who gives a s**t if he doesn't feel well. He's a grown-ass man. I don't like guys who are a bit useless. I hate them useless guys. He is useless."
171 complaints were issued to the watchdog making it the highest number of complaints since the beginning of the South Africa series.
