A horrifying incident unfolded in Bundeli village under the Rajgamar police outpost in Korba district, where a man allegedly beheaded his wife and was later seen roaming around with her severed head, police reported on Thursday.

The accused, Salik Ram Yadav, a watchman at a local poultry farm, reportedly attacked his wife with a sharp meat-cutting weapon following a domestic dispute while under the influence of alcohol.

Eyewitnesses said the man carried the severed head in one hand and the weapon in the other, before placing them in a plastic sack and leaving the torso at the scene. He then reportedly approached the Rajgamar police outpost, authorities said.

During interrogation, Yadav allegedly admitted to the crime, citing repeated disputes with his wife, who reportedly distrusted his character.

The couple, originally from Ajgarbahar Haldimada village in Korba block, had been employed at the poultry farm for the past three years and had four children.

The accused has been arrested, and the weapon used in the crime has been seized. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and further investigation is ongoing.
