man admitted to hospital
In our country, women fall ill more than men, but more men are admitted to hospitals. The reason is that less money is spent on hospital treatment for women. They are not kept admitted for long. The 80th Round Health Survey of the National Statistical Office (NSS) has revealed this shocking information. According to the survey, on an average Rs 25,111 is spent per hospitalization on women in rural India, while on men Rs 36,997 i.e. about 32 percent less is being spent on the treatment of women.
It has been told in the survey that women remain ill more. About 15 percent of the women in the survey said that they had recently suffered from some disease. Whereas this rate of disease among men was about 12 percent. But he remained admitted in the hospital for a long time.
In the case of women, the situation of less money being spent on their health is similar to that in rural areas even in rich families. Even in affluent families, men are spending more on treatment than women. hospital The rate of admission is also 3 percent higher than that of women. This means that the problem may not only be lack of resources but also of priority. This survey has also revealed that the scope of health insurance and government schemes has increased in recent years, but this survey shows that despite the increase in coverage, the gender gap persists. Even though there are more diseases among women, less money is still being spent on their treatment.
It has also been told in the survey that this difference is more in private hospitals. According to the survey, expenses are higher in private hospitals. Because of this, the expenditure on women is being reduced by about 35 percent compared to men.
Less money is being spent on the treatment of women, but the scope of diseases among them has increased significantly in the last few years. Cases of breast, cervical and ovarian cancer have increased in women. The cases of diseases like PCOS and PCOD are also increasing. These are such diseases in which good treatment is necessary at the right time, but due to less money being spent on treatment, the severity and danger of these diseases is increasing.
