Rakul Preet Singh and her husband Jackky Bhagnani went viral for all the wrong reasons. During a conversation with Zingabad, they talked about how they weren’t just married to each other, they were in a ‘situationship.’

“Rakul and I are married, but we are like in a situationship, which is, of course, we are exclusive to each other because that's why we are married. But the most important thing is that I can talk to her about anything.”

This remark got them a lot of backlashes, and they were slammed for blending modern relationship terms in such a manner. Although the implication had been different, it still did the damage. Seeing how out of hand things were getting, Rakul also took to her Instagram to clear things out.

“We had a great laugh today about how one line from an hour-long conversation can suddenly become the headline. Funny... until it's not. Context matters. Nuance matters. Conversations deserve better than being reduced to clickbait. Maybe it's time platforms take a little more responsibility for the narratives they create.”

The two tied the knot back in 2024 with two different ceremonies in Goa. The backlash the couple faced because of their remarks has more to do with the fact that the word ‘situationship’ was used in the wrong context, or the news itself was turned into something that it wasn’t at all.

Rakul Preet Singh will be starring in Pati Patni aur Wo Do alongside Ayushmann Khurrana, Sara Ali Khan and Wamiqa Gabbi, with the film set to be released on May 15.
