Incident of Cyber Harassment

The Cyber Department of Maharashtra has made an arrest in a cyber harassment case linked to Nitara Kumar, the daughter of Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar. This information was shared by Yashasvi Yadav, the Additional Director General of Police for the Cyber Department. Nitara received a request for nude photos while playing an online game.

Currently, Akshay Kumar is in the spotlight for his film 'Bhoot Bangla', but amidst this, his daughter faced harassment. While playing a game, someone asked the 13-year-old Nitara for her nude photo. Yashasvi Yadav revealed this during an event focused on cyber security.

The Maharashtra Cyber Department also organized a special session at R.D. National College to raise awareness about cyber threats. Students were educated about safe digital practices, including how to avoid online financial fraud, social media security, phishing attacks, and cyberbullying.

During the event, Yashasvi Yadav mentioned, “Akshay Kumar had a shocking story to share with us. He revealed that his daughter encountered sextortion. The girl was very brave and informed her parents about it.”

Yadav continued, “We received this information through her parents, and we took action on the matter. I want to draw your attention to this.” Following this, a video clip of Akshay Kumar discussing the incident was played, where he spoke about this troubling experience back in October 2025.

In the video, Akshay Kumar stated, “I want to share a small incident that happened a few months ago at my home. My daughter was playing a video game. Some games allow you to play with strangers. While playing, you receive messages like, ‘Thank you, that was great’ or ‘You’re doing really well,’ which seem polite.”

He further explained, “Suddenly, the person asked, ‘Where are you from?’ She replied, ‘Mumbai’. Then everything seemed normal. The person complimented her, saying, ‘You played very well.’ It felt respectful. Then came the message, ‘Are you male or female?’ She answered, ‘Female’. The conversation progressed, and then the individual asked, ‘Can you send me your nude photo?’ My daughter immediately shut everything down.”

Akshay Kumar added, “Nitara went and told my wife. It was great that she spoke to her mother. This is how such situations begin. This is also part of cyber crime. People and children get trapped in this. Often, they end up having to pay to avoid blackmail. In some cases, suicides have been reported. It is crucial for our children to be aware of these issues in the digital world.”
