News of another big defense agreement between India and Russia is coming out. According to sources, India may get state-of-the-art R-37M Missile air-to-air missiles from Russia. Although this deal has not been officially announced yet, it is believed that the talks have reached the final stage. In such a situation, if this agreement is completed then the Indian Air Force will get great strength and the security of the country will be even stronger than before.
According to sources, Russia has approved to supply about 300 R-37M missiles to India under a deal worth about $1.2 billion. This deal has come at a time when military cooperation between China and Pakistan is increasing rapidly. If this deal is completed, there will be a big increase in India's air power and a new challenge may arise for China-Pakistan.
R-37M is counted among the world's longest range air-to-air missiles. It has features that make it very special. This missile has been specially designed to target high-value targets of the enemy such as radar and early warning aircraft.
These missiles can be launched from India's main fighter aircraft Sukhoi Su-30MKI, which is considered the backbone of the Indian Air Force.
This missile is not just a weapon but can prove to be a force multiplier. That means it can increase India's overall air combat capability manifold.
India is not dependent only on imports. Work is also going on rapidly in the country on indigenous missiles like Astra Mk2 Missile and Astra Mk3 Missile, which can join the Air Force in the coming time.
According to sources, if the deal is finalized then the delivery of these missiles can start in the next 12 to 18 months.
This possible deal between India and Russia can prove to be a game changer for the Indian Air Force. Getting long range strike capability will give India a strategic edge and can also change the balance of power in the region.
