Skyhop Aviation has received Air Operator Certificate from DGCA. This India's first commercial seaplane company is ready for operation. Skyhop Aviation has received Air Operator Certificate from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. In the first phase of Skyhop, the five islands of Lakshadweep will be connected to each other and the mainland. For this, a 19-seater aircraft will be operated. The airline is also evaluating opportunities in other parts of the country.
Skyhop is being developed as India's first dedicated commercial seaplane operator. This information was given by Avni Singh, Founder and CEO of Skyhop Aviation. He said that getting AOC is an important achievement for us. This gives us the basis to move forward with confidence. He said that we are grateful to DGCA and Ministry of Civil Aviation for their guidance and cooperation during this entire process.
Avani Singh said that as preparations for the launch of operations progress, SkyHop looks forward to continuing to work closely with the government and DGCA. He further said that its aim is to provide a safe, reliable and new way to connect those parts of India which are difficult to reach. The company hopes to provide passengers with an experience that will be practical as well as memorable. And in this way it will make a small but meaningful contribution to regional reach and national unity.
He told that in the first phase, SkyHop plans to connect the five islands of Lakshadweep with each other and the mainland. Operations will start with a 19-seat aircraft. SkyHop completed a test flight, including both landing and take-off, from the Ganga Barrage in Rishikesh on April 6, 2026. This test was conducted using a modified De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter.
