Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Monday (April 27) that the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya is the result of the commitment of the country's leadership and widespread cooperation of the general public. Along with this, he also made it clear that there is no need to declare India a Hindu nation, because India is already a Hindu nation. He believes that the basic identity of the country is already Hindu nation.
According to the statement issued by RSS, Bhagwat was addressing a program of Dr. Hedgewar Memorial Committee located at Reshimbag in Nagpur. During this, those persons were honored who played an important role in the construction of Ram Temple. Ram temple was built under the leadership and guidance of these people. This program was organized to honor him.
In his address, Bhagwat said that the Ram temple was built as per the wish of Lord Ram. Referring to the story of Lord Krishna lifting Govardhan Mountain, he said that such big and historic works are accomplished only when all sections of the society contribute together.
During this, the RSS chief mentioned the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. He said that on the day of swearing-in of the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the British newspaper The Guardian had commented that on that day India actually said goodbye to British rule.
During the address, Bhagwat also raised the question whether the construction of Ram temple could have been possible without strong and committed leadership. He further said that at one time people used to ridicule people for talking about Hindu Rashtra, but now the circumstances have changed. According to him, today people have started understanding and accepting the idea that India's cultural identity is linked to Hindu tradition.
In the end, Mohan Bhagwat said that many people demand the RSS to formally declare India as a Hindu nation, but the Sangh believes that there is no need to declare what is already true.
The program started with the laying of flowers on the statue of Bharat Mata. On this occasion, many dignitaries including Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat, Pujya Govinddev Giri Maharaj, Committee President Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi and Vice President Shridhar Gadge were present.
