IPL 2026: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) experienced fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has clearly said that now the team’s victory matters more to him than individual achievements. 36-year-old Bhuvneshwar remains the highest wicket-taker in the current IPL season and has a purple cap adorned on his head. In the match against Gujarat Titans, he bowled brilliantly and took 3 wickets for 28 runs, but despite this, RCB had to face defeat.

In the pre-conference after the match, Bhuvneshwar said that getting the Purple Cap is a good thing, but he has now moved beyond the era where only personal records and awards mattered. He said that when a player is young he thinks about winning individual awards, but now his entire focus is on the team goal. If you get any personal honor while playing for the team, it feels even more special.

Bhuvneshwar said that he is just trying to give his best and the team management has continuously encouraged him. He also admitted that chasing targets has been easy on almost every ground this season. Against Gujarat, RCB lost the toss and had to bat first, where the team was bundled out for just 155 runs.

He said that to save such a low score, just stopping the runs was not enough, it was necessary to take wickets. RCB bowlers tried their best, but not every department can be perfect in every match. He said that the team has batted brilliantly throughout the tournament so far and one defeat does not make much difference.

On behalf of Gujarat Titans, Jason Holder performed all-round and took 2 wickets for 29 runs, took 3 brilliant catches and also scored 12 runs. For his performance he was chosen man of the match. Gujarat Titans Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki said that the purpose of including Jason Holder in the team in the auction was that he should contribute with both bat and ball, and he performed brilliantly, living up to the expectations of the team.
