Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai's health deteriorated during the Education Medical Conference program at Congress Headquarters. He has been admitted to Medanta Hospital in Lucknow, where treatment is going on under the supervision of doctors. Earlier, regarding the program, he had written in a post that today on the occasion of Buddha Purnima and Labor Day, a grand 'State Level Teachers and Doctors Conference' was organized by the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee at Gandhi Bhawan, Lucknow.
Ajay Rai further wrote in the same post, reiterated the resolve of a just and prosperous state along with the nation-building teachers and life-saving doctors. He started his political journey from Bharatiya Janata Party and became MLA from Varanasi region in the 90s. He was counted among the strong leaders of BJP. After this he left BJP and joined SP.
However, he did not last long. After this joined BSP. After this, he joined Congress in the year 2012. Ajay Rai contested the Lok Sabha elections-2014 from Varanasi seat.
