First Journalist of Universe: The holy festival of Narada Jayanti is being celebrated today i.e. on Saturday. In Sanatan Dharma, Devarshi Narad is the mental son of the creator Brahma. He is worshiped as the supreme devotee of Lord Vishnu and the first messenger of the universe. According to mythological beliefs, Narada Muni was incarnated on the Pratipada date of Jyeshtha month. He is considered not only a sage but also a great connoisseur of music, knowledge and devotion. Positive energy is transmitted to all three worlds by chanting 'Narayan-Narayan' emanating from the veena of Narada Muni. This auspicious day reminds us that worshiping God by following the path of truth and religion without any discrimination is the real fruit of life.
Narada Muni is called the messenger of the gods because he used to exchange information between all the worlds. It is mentioned in mythology that he could travel to heaven, earth and underworld without any restriction. Their main function was to convey God's plans to gods, humans and even demons. Although at times his words may have sounded controversial, in the end their results were always for the welfare of the world. He always spoke bitter truth for the establishment of religion, due to which unrighteousness was destroyed and truth won. Due to his intelligence and information system, he is also considered the first journalist of the universe.
Devarshi Narad's entire life was dedicated to the devotion of Lord Vishnu. He always has a veena named 'Mahti' in his hand, with which he continuously chants the name of Hari. He is considered to be the original guru not only of devotion but also of Gandharva art and music. According to the scriptures, Narad Muni had inspired the great sage Valmiki to write Ramayana and had shown the path to Ved Vyas ji to compose Shrimad Bhagwat Purana. He is such a vast ocean of knowledge that the doubts of great sages were dispelled by his mere presence. This form of his teaches us that music and art should be used properly only to attain closeness to God.
Devarshi Narad is also considered to be the first journalist of the universe. Like today's journalists, they used to spread information from one world to another. His main objective was never to harm anyone or take personal advantage, but to maintain balance in the world and protect Dharma. This form of Narad Muni is very interesting for today's generation because he shows that even the biggest changes can be brought about through right information and communication. His 'talking here and there' was actually part of a well-thought-out plan for the end of some great demon or for the good of the world. He always supported truth and justice with his astute intelligence and accurate information.
