Following the defeat against Gujarat Titans, Punjab Kings' captain Shreyas Iyer shared his thoughts on the positive aspects of the match. He noted that despite the GT bowlers effectively utilizing the pitch, his team managed to score over 160 runs even after losing half their wickets early on. Iyer praised his team's attitude and performance under challenging circumstances.

After a disappointing bowling performance in their previous match against Rajasthan Royals, PBKS faced further challenges in batting, losing five wickets for just 47 runs. A partnership of 79 runs between Marcus Stoinis and half-centurion Suryansh Shedge provided some hope for the team. Although PBKS bowlers fought hard, Sai Sudharsan's half-century and Washington Sundar's composed innings led GT to victory with one ball remaining.

During the post-match presentation, Iyer expressed that he believed the score was commendable, especially on a pitch where the ball was swinging early on, particularly with the new ball. He acknowledged that the GT bowlers took full advantage of the conditions with their length and line, making it difficult for his team to score freely. He estimated that they lost four wickets during the powerplay, and reaching 160 runs from that position was a remarkable effort.

Iyer mentioned that he had hoped the new ball bowlers would secure early wickets with their precise line and length, but that did not happen. Nonetheless, he was pleased that his team fought until the last ball. He added that their attitude and strategy were commendable, although they missed opportunities to play shots at the right length. He noted that hitting over mid-wicket or playing pull shots was challenging due to inconsistent bounce on the pitch. While they fell short in performance, he emphasized that they remain at the top of the table, which is crucial, and they will take positive lessons from this match.
