Aadhaar Card Update: Claims were circulating on social media suggesting that the Aadhaar card would be limited to featuring only a photograph and a QR code; however, the government has refuted these claims, stating that no such changes will be implemented.

Aadhaar Design Change Rumor: News regarding a potential change in the design of the Aadhaar card has been spreading rapidly across social media and digital platforms in recent days. These reports claim that, in the near future, the government plans to remove the name, address, and Aadhaar number from the card, limiting its content to just a photograph and a QR code. The government has now issued a statement addressing these reports.

The Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) has clarified that the claims currently circulating on social media and digital platforms are entirely false and fake. In a press release issued on Sunday, the Ministry explicitly stated that absolutely no changes of any kind will be made to the design of the Aadhaar card.

The Claim is Completely False and Baseless — Government

The Ministry further clarified that the recent reports circulating on social media—suggesting that the Aadhaar card's design would be altered by the end of this year to feature only a photograph and a QR code—are completely false and baseless.

The government noted that such rumors create unnecessary confusion among the public. Therefore, citizens are advised to disregard such rumors unless they are substantiated by official sources, and to rely solely on information provided by the UIDAI's official social media handles or the Press Information Bureau (PIB). Additionally, the public is urged to refrain from promoting or circulating such misinformation.
