A serious security lapse has come to light near the White House in America's capital Washington DC. The US Secret Service says the shooting took place near 15th Street and Independence Avenue (near the White House/National Mall). Secret Service agents shot an armed man, prompting a brief lockdown of the surrounding area.

This incident happened near the National Mall. At the same time, the convoy of Vice President JD Vance had passed by there. Secret Service deputy director Matthew Quinn said it did not appear that the Vice President was targeted. He also said that an investigation is underway to determine whether the incident is related to recent threats against President Donald Trump. It was being claimed in many reports that the attack took place during the passing of Vance's motorcade.

What is the reason for the firing?

According to Quinn, agents observed a suspicious person who was suspected of having a gun. When the agents reached him, he started running. While running, he took out his gun and started shooting. After this the Secret Service agents retaliated and injured him. The injured person was immediately taken to the hospital, but information about his condition has not been given yet. A minor was also injured in this incident, who suffered minor injuries.

This matter has come to light at a time when another security incident had taken place just a few days ago. A person tried to break security during the White House Correspondent's Dinner in a hotel in Washington. In this case, 31-year-old Cole Allen has been accused of attempting to assassinate the President.

Apart from this, in October 2025 also a person the White House Had crashed his car into a security gate near. He was immediately arrested. Later investigation revealed that there was no danger from his car. Due to these continuous incidents, security around the White House has been tightened and the agencies are on full alert.
