BJP has made a historic performance in West Bengal. BJP is going to form the government here for the first time. BJP has won 206 seats. But there is one seat in Bengal, where counting went on throughout the night but the result is still awaited. That seat is Rajarhat New Town seat. Counting is still going on here. Counting of 17 rounds has been done while one round is left to count. TMC's Tapash Chatterjee is leading from this seat. There is a tough competition going on here between BJP and TMC. There is a margin of 323 votes between the two.

Trinamool Congress has faced a crushing defeat in Bengal. TMC, which had touched the figure of 215 in the last elections, was reduced to 80 seats this time. CM Mamta could not even save her seat. He suffered a crushing defeat in Bhawanipur, which was considered his stronghold. Here BJP's Suvendu Adhikari defeated Mamata by 15105 votes. Suvendu got 73917 votes while Mamta stood second with 58812 votes.
