The President of the National Conference, Farooq Abdullah, has stirred controversy with his remarks regarding the recent twin explosions in Punjab. He stated that explosions occur frequently in India, questioning what is new about it. The incidents took place in Jalandhar and Amritsar, with the latter explosion occurring near the Khalsa military cantonment late Tuesday night, just hours after the first blast.

According to police reports, investigations into both explosions are ongoing, and there have been no reports of injuries. The initial explosion in Jalandhar occurred around 8 PM, followed by the second blast in Amritsar at approximately 11 PM. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Suhail Mir Qasim from Amritsar (Rural) informed that they received reports of a loud explosion on a road in Khalsa around 11 PM. He mentioned that their team promptly arrived at the scene. Preliminary investigations revealed that an individual had thrown something towards a wall, resulting in the explosion, which caused a piece of tin sheet and part of the wall to collapse. Forensic teams and bomb disposal units were dispatched to the site following the incident.

Aditya S. Warrior, the Superintendent of Police for Amritsar Rural, also visited the site and confirmed that an investigation is underway. Military officials assessed the situation at the scene, leading to a lockdown of the area. The explosion, which occurred at night, was captured on nearby CCTV footage. The earlier blast in Jalandhar, which took place around 8 PM, had already created panic in the vicinity.
