CM Rekha Gupta flags off Delhi's mobile heat relief units amid rising heatwave conditions

Delhi has introduced a set of mobile relief measures to address the impact of the ongoing heatwave, with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta flagging off 13 Mobile Heat Relief Units from the Delhi Secretariat. The initiative is aimed at providing on-ground assistance to residents in areas experiencing high temperatures, as part of broader efforts to strengthen the city’s response to extreme weather conditions.
According to officials, the mobile units will be deployed across different parts of the capital and equipped to offer essential support services. These include access to clean drinking water, distribution of oral rehydration salts (ORS), basic first aid, and protective items such as cotton cloths and caps to help reduce exposure to heat. The move comes amid rising temperatures, with authorities focusing on preventive measures to reduce health risks associated with prolonged heat exposure.
Alongside the rollout of the mobile units, the government also released a Heat Action Plan booklet aimed at increasing public awareness and preparedness. The document outlines safety measures and guidelines for residents during periods of extreme heat. Authorities have advised citizens to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak hours, and take necessary precautions. In case of emergencies, assistance is available through the national helpline number 112. The initiative combines immediate relief efforts with awareness strategies designed to help residents navigate severe weather conditions safely.
