Meerut Crime News: A case has come to light in Teli locality located in Sadar Bazar area of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh which shook the entire area. 72-year-old Udaybhanu Biswas is accused of hiding the body of his 35-year-old daughter Priyanka Biswas inside the house for almost four months after her death. According to initial investigation, Priyanka died due to illness on December 1, 2025, but what happened after that made the case mysterious and serious.
According to the police, even after the death of the daughter, the father did not perform her last rites. Instead, they kept the body in a closed room of the house. After some time, the neighbors noticed a strong odor coming from the house, but realized the seriousness of the situation late. It is reported that the accused resorted to perfume and other measures to hide the foul smell.
This matter came to light in April 2026 when local people complained to the police about the persistent smell. When the police reached the spot, they found a dead body in a room of the house, which had decomposed to a great extent and turned into a skeleton. This scene was shocking even for the investigating officers. On April 10, the body was recovered and sent for postmortem.
According to police sources, the accused Udaybhanu Biswas is a resident of West Bengal and a retired administrative officer from the Education Department. Considering the sensitivity of the matter, his mental health test has also been done. Officials say that the investigation is also focused on whether this case is related to mental imbalance or there is some other reason behind it.
Meerut Police formally arrested the accused on Wednesday. Officials say that the case is being investigated from every aspect, including the actual cause of death, the reason for hiding the body and the condition of the family. At present there is an atmosphere of shock and discussion in the entire area regarding this incident. This case is not just a criminal incident, but also points towards a mental and social question, the answer to which can be revealed only after investigation.
