Zara Tindall has been described as "very normal", with fellow equestrians said to "forgot that she is a member of the Royal Family". Following the births of her two children, Princess Anne made the decision to not grant them with royal titles - despite them being grandchildren of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
In an interview in HELLO!, competitive equestrian Laura Collett opened up about riding alongside Queen Elizabeth's granddaughter and the special honor she received from Princess Anne.
Speaking of Zara, she said: "She's so normal, we forget she's a royal...she's so lovely."
Collett received an Olympic gold medal from Princess Anne in Paris in 2024, and in 2022, the Olympian was given an MBE from the Princess Royal for her services to sports.
Discussing her experience at meeting Anne at her investiture ceremony, Collett said: "It was one of those surreal moments because she started chatting [to me] like a friendly face.'
Like her own daughter, Anne was a lifelong rider and previously competed in the 1976 Summer Olympics.
Speaking of Anne, she added: "It was nice because we have something in common."
Collett nearly died in 2013 when her horse fell on top of her, resulting in severe injuries and permanent blindness in one eye, and later suffered another injury earlier this year.
She spoke of her accidents with a very Princess Anne-like reply: "Accidents happen and it's important to realize it's not all plain sailing.
"You just have to pick yourself up and come back stronger."
