As soon as the summer season arrives, intense sunlight, sweat and lack of water in the body become the biggest problems of the people. In the scorching heat of May-June, if the body is not kept properly hydrated, serious problems like dehydration, dizziness, weakness, fatigue and heat stroke can occur. Therefore, it is most important in this season to ensure that there is no shortage of water in the body.
Often people drink water when they feel very thirsty, but in summer it is very important to keep drinking water every now and then. Whether you are at home, in office or traveling outside, always keep a water bottle with you.
The Ministry of AYUSH posted on social media that not only plain water, but some indigenous and healthy drinks also help in keeping the body cool, like coconut water, buttermilk and lemonade. Coconut water fulfills the deficiency of essential minerals in the body, while buttermilk cools the stomach and also improves digestion. Lemon water not only keeps the body fresh but also gives energy. In summer, these things are no less than a natural energy drink.
Apart from this, some caution is also necessary in eating and drinking. In summer, one should eat more fruits and vegetables which have high water content. Fruits like watermelon, cucumber, cantaloupe and orange help a lot in keeping the body hydrated. Especially watermelon and cucumber help in cooling the body in summer.
In summer, caffeine and high sugar drinks can increase water loss in the body. Many people drink soft drinks to cool down, but they provide relief for some time but do not hydrate the body properly. Therefore consumption of these things should be avoided.
Children and the elderly need special attention in summer because their body can quickly become dehydrated. If someone is experiencing problems like frequent dizziness, headache, excessive weakness or vomiting, then it should not be ignored. This may be a sign of dehydration.
