Subrahmanya: Kukke Subrahmanya Temple, one of the major temples under Karnataka’s Muzrai Department, has recorded an annual income of Rs 167,89,09,080.77 during the financial year 2025-26, retaining its position as the state’s No. 1 Muzrai temple for the 15th consecutive year.
The temple earned the income between April 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026. During the same period, the temple spent Rs 85,20,14,531.42.
In the previous financial year 2024-25, the temple had recorded an income of Rs 155.95 crore. This year, the income increased by around Rs 12 crore.
Temple officials said the main sources of income include special offerings and seva, donation hundis, interest from investments, rents from choultries and buildings, and agricultural estates.
Major sources of income
The temple received Rs 2,53,09,230 from contracts, Rs 10,50,323 from agricultural produce and plantation products, and Rs 94,46,470 from building and shop rentals.
Donations brought in Rs 5,47,43,244.45, while e-hundi collections stood at Rs 38,01,676.80. The temple’s hundi collections amounted to Rs 24,69,63,576.
Income from seva offerings reached Rs 64,08,90,940.51. Grants contributed Rs 1,67,956.
The temple also earned Rs 49,11,07,412 through interest on investments, Rs 41,80,588 through savings accounts and other interest, and Rs 12,90,390 through sweep transaction interest.
Other income sources included Rs 3,20,31,937 from miscellaneous accounts, Rs 6,93,66,026 from choultry maintenance contributions, Rs 9,14,71,606.01 from annasantarpane funds, Rs 14,17,284 from development funds, and Rs 56,70,421 from permanent seva capital funds.
Temple income increased over the years
The temple recorded an income of Rs 19.76 crore in 2006-07. In 2007-08, the income rose to Rs 24.44 crore, making it one of the richest temples in the state.
The temple later recorded revenues of Rs 31 crore in 2008-09, Rs 38.51 crore in 2009-10, Rs 56.24 crore in 2011-12, Rs 66.76 crore in 2012-13, Rs 68 crore in 2013-14, Rs 77.60 crore in 2014-15, Rs 88.83 crore in 2015-16 and Rs 89.65 crore in 2016-17.
Further growth was seen with Rs 95.92 crore in 2017-18, Rs 92.09 crore in 2018-19, Rs 98.92 crore in 2019-20, Rs 68.94 crore in 2020-21, Rs 72.73 crore in 2021-22, Rs 123.64 crore in 2022-23, Rs 146.01 crore in 2023-24 and Rs 155.95 crore in 2024-25.
