Holehonnuru: A man allegedly killed his younger brother with a sickle following a minor dispute at Dasarakallahalli village near Holehonnuru on Wednesday, May 13.
Santosh (40) was identified as the deceased. Police have arrested the accused, Ramesh (48).
According to police, Santosh and Ramesh were among three brothers and worked as daily wage labourers. Santosh is survived by his wife and two children.
Sources said there had been disagreements between the brothers regarding family and property matters. On Wednesday, an argument reportedly broke out between Ramesh and Santosh over the issue.
During the quarrel, an angry Ramesh allegedly attacked Santosh with a sickle, causing severe injuries to his back, thigh and shoulder.
Santosh, who suffered heavy bleeding, was first taken to the Government Community Health Centre in the town. He was later shifted to McGann Hospital in Shivamogga for further treatment, where he died without responding to treatment.
A case has been registered at the local police station, and further investigation is underway.
