Netflix viewers have been left puzzled by the streaming giant's choice to commission a second series of crime comedy Big Mistakes.

Following his worldwide acclaim as David Rose in Schitt's Creek, where he starred alongside his real-life father Eugene Levy, Dan Levy unleashed his sitcom Big Mistakes on Netflix last month.

The eight-episode series follows two quarrelsome siblings, Nicky (played by Dan Levy) and teacher Morgan (Taylor Ortega), who are blackmailed into the murky world of organised crime.

It has now been confirmed that Big Mistakes has been given the go-ahead for a second season, with the streamer announcing on X: "To family...Dan Levy's Big Mistakes is coming back for season two!"

Yet viewers have been far from enthusiastic about the news, with many questioning why the show is being brought back.

"Not canceling the show was a bigger mistake", a subscriber said.

A second echoed: "This series is more of a flop than XO Kitty, and already got a renewal? Y'all will tank."

Someone else posted: "I'm surprised it got renewed after those mid-season rating reports.

"Netflix must really believe in Dan Levy's vision if they're giving it another shot despite the Top 10 drop", while a fellow user simply stated: "Huge mistake".

According to IMDb, viewers branded the first series as "irritating" and "annoying" with an "insufferable script".

Not everybody shared those sentiments, however, as others claimed they "absolutely loved" Big Mistakes, with the show earning a respectable 79% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Levy himself also took to X to share a video announcing the exciting news from America.

He said: "It's way too early on this gorgeous Wednesday morning, but I just got a call that season two of Big Mistakes is happening!

"It's on! It's greenlit. It's moving forward. So thank you all for supporting the show, for watching it.

"We've been secretly writing season two for a little bit, and I can assure you bigger mistakes are made."

Levy then hinted at his hopes for additional series renewals down the line, adding: "Obviously, I have a meticulous plan for this season and the series to be honest. So a lot of gratitude."

Big Mistakes is available to watch on Netflix.
