Silchar, May 18: In a significant advancement for sports governance in the Barak Valley, the Lakhipur District Sports Association (LDSA) has officially received permanent affiliation with voting rights from the Assam Cricket Association (ACA).

This recognition, conveyed through an official notification from the ACA on Monday, represents the culmination of 28 years of persistent efforts aimed at enhancing cricket and sports development in the area.

With this permanent affiliation, LDSA is now entitled to full voting rights, allowing the association to engage in the decision-making processes of the ACA and enjoy all the benefits associated with permanent membership.

Udharbond MLA and LDSA president Rajdeep Goala expressed his joy over this achievement, calling it a “historic, proud, and memorable moment” for both the association and the sports community in Barak Valley.

“Today marks a truly historic and unforgettable day for the Lakhipur District Sports Association and sports enthusiasts throughout the Barak Valley. After a dedicated journey of 28 years filled with challenges and commitment to promoting sports, LDSA has finally attained permanent membership with voting rights from the ACA,” Goala stated.

He also recognized the vital role played by various stakeholders whose ongoing support and goodwill were instrumental in reaching this milestone.

Goala expressed hope that this affiliation would lead to enhanced sporting infrastructure, talent development, and stronger representation for the region in the future.

Additionally, he thanked prominent figures in cricket administration, including Devajit Saikia, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and Taranga Gogoi, president of the ACA, along with other officials and members of the association.

Furthermore, Goala revealed that LDSA has requested both the BCCI and ACA to assist in constructing a modern cricket stadium equipped with state-of-the-art facilities in Cachar district, emphasizing the region's potential to become a significant sporting hub.

This development is anticipated to greatly enhance cricket administration and grassroots sporting opportunities in Lakhipur and the broader Barak Valley area.
