A UK airline has collapsed into administration, with all flights cancelled and 41 jobs axed. Zenith Aviation Limited, a UK chartered airline based at London Biggin Hill, has grounded all flights and dismissed dozens of staff after appointing administrators.

Paul Hargreaves, of Nexus Corporate Solutions Limited, was appointed to manage the company this month with hopes of securing a sale or rescue operation. Zenith Aviation, which was established in September 2013, described itself as a leading provider of private jet charters, aircraft management and engineering services across the UK and Europe.

Mr Hargreaves told The Herald: "It is unfortunate for the company and the former employees, however, we are assessing the assets of the company, assisting employees with claiming their statutory redundancy entitlements, and looking at options to include potential rescue or buyout, should that be appropriate."

He added: "At this time, we are still assessing the company's position and evaluating the options."

The filing comes around a year after Zenith Aviation was acquired by Opul Jets, which was listed as having surrendered control of the firm in December.

The acquisition included the airline's managed fleet of aircraft and accredited maintenance facility.

Cross-sector UK firms have filed for administration or liquidation in recent months, as global instability and rising wage bills continue to take a toll on running costs.

Merseyside aerospace engineering firm North West Precision Limited collapsed into administration earlier this month after almost 50 years in business.

The family-owned firm occupied purpose-built factories near Liverpool, including significant production and office space.

The UK aerospace sector has experienced significant pressures linked to recent economic volatility, including fluctuating demand from major aircraft programmes.

The Express has contacted Zenith Aviation Limited and Nexus Corporate Solutions Limited for comment.
