BTSC Food Vacancy 2026: The Bihar Technical Service Commission (BTSC), Patna, has issued a recruitment notification for the post of Food Analyst—comprising 11 vacancies—within the Bihar Food Preservation Service, under the aegis of the Health Department. Online applications are open on the official website, btsc.bihar.gov.in, until June 19, 2026.

In this recruitment drive, a total of 10 posts have been allocated for the General Category; this includes 2 posts for UR (Unreserved), 1 for EWS (Economically Weaker Sections), 3 for EBC (Extremely Backward Classes), and 2 for SC (Scheduled Castes), while no posts have been designated for OBC (Other Backward Classes) or ST (Scheduled Tribes). Additionally, 01 post is reserved for the PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities) category, which falls under the Scheduled Caste quota. Thus, a total of 11 posts will be filled across all categories combined.

What are the Essential Qualifications for the application?
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Biotechnology, Food Technology, or a related discipline. Furthermore, candidates are required to have a minimum of 3 years of experience in food analysis and must have passed the Food Analyst Examination conducted by the FSSAI.

Minimum Age Requirement: 21 Years
For this recruitment, the maximum age limit has been set at 37 years for unreserved male candidates and 40 years for unreserved female candidates.

For both male and female candidates belonging to the BC (Backward Classes) and EBC categories, the maximum age limit is 40 years, whereas for male and female candidates belonging to the SC/ST categories, this limit is set at 42 years. For all candidates, it is mandatory to have attained a minimum age of 21 years as of August 1, 2026.

Selection Process and Exam Pattern
Candidates for this recruitment will be selected through a Computer-Based Test (CBT). The examination will consist of a total of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), carrying a total weightage of 100 marks. The duration of the examination will be 2 hours, and the question paper will be available in both Hindi and English.

The syllabus for the examination will be based on the undergraduate-level curriculum for Food Analysts; this syllabus will be determined by the concerned department and will be released separately on the BTSC website. 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer in the examination. If the examination is conducted in multiple shifts, normalization of marks may also be applied.
