Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Sanjeev Jha on Saturday alleged that he was detained by Delhi Police during a hunger strike demanding justice in the alleged murder case of Pandav Kumar. The incident which took place in Uttam Nagar a month back, when a Delhi Police constable allegedly opened fire on a man in the Dwarka area of the national capital.

Speaking to ANI, Jha asserted that his protest would continue until the victim's family is provided compensation, a job, and speedy justice from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. "The fast and the struggle will both continue until Pandav Kumar and his family receive justice from the BJP government in Delhi," he told ANI.
Sharing information in a post on X, Sanjeev Jha said he was being held at a police station in Dwarka Sector 23. He wrote, "Right now, I am being held at Sector 23, Dwarka police station."
He further added, "I was peacefully fasting solely to demand justice for the family of Pandav Kumar, financial assistance of 1 crore rupees, and a job for one member of the family. But efforts are being made to suppress my voice. I want to say clearly-- I will not be intimidated by pressure, nor will I bow to arrest. My fast and my struggle will both continue until Pandav Kumar's family gets justice."
Earlier, speaking from the DCP office in Dwarka Sector 23, the AAP MLA said, "I am currently at the DCP office in Dwarka Sector 23. We were detained and were on strike. Our strike will continue..."
He further added that he wrote a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Bihar CM, Delhi LG, PM Modi and HM Amit Shah but justice has not been given to the victim's family. He said that they have been demanding since day 1 that the family be given Rs 1 crore, a job, and a speedy trial be conducted.
"A 21-year-old man was shot in Uttam Nagar. It has been a month, and we haven't received justice... We have been demanding since day 1 that the family be given Rs 1 crore, a job, and a speedy trial be conducted... When we sat on a hunger strike today, we were summoned to the Chief Minister's office. The DM and police intimidated us and then kept the family in their custody until 10 PM..." he told ANI on Friday, referring to the incident that triggered the protest.
Meanwhile, AAP MP Sanjay Singh also reacted to the incident, alleging police action against the protest and raising political allegations against the BJP governemt in the national capital. He alleged that "being from Purvanchal has become a curse" under the BJP rule.
In a post on X, Sanjay Singh wrote, "In Delhi, the murder of Bihar's Pandav Kumar was carried out by police personnel, and to this day, the victim's family has not received justice in that case. Today, when @Sanjeev_aap was fasting along with his companions, the police arrested them like criminals. In BJP rule, being from Purvanchal has become a curse."
Meanwhile, a Delhi Police special cell head constable was arrested on April 26 for allegedly opening fire late at night in Dwarka, killing one labourer and injuring another, according to officials.
Delhi Police had launched a manhunt and conducted raids to trace the accused, identified as Neeraj, who was absconding. According to Delhi Police, "At around 2 am last night (April 25) in Jaffarpur Kalan, Dwarka, Head Constable Neeraj, posted with the Special Cell, allegedly opened fire, leaving one labourer dead and injuring another. The labourers were partying, and an argument broke out over the noise, which led to this incident. It is being investigated whether the Head Constable was drunk. The accused is absconding, and a search is underway. The police have registered a murder case and initiated an investigation. After conducting a post-mortem, the body will be handed over to the family." (ANI)
