TRIBUNMADURA.COM, GRESIK – As the 2026 World Cup approaches, set to kick off on June 11, jersey sales for participating national teams have started to rise, Friday (29 May 2026).

Although the World Cup fever has yet to reach its peak, football jersey sellers are already seeing a surge in orders from football fans and companies keen to join in the four-yearly global football celebration.

One such store is Scudetto Sports, located on Jalan Raya Kartini, Kebomas, Gresik, East Java.

Scudetto’s owner, Aditya Wibowo, shared that his store has been selling jerseys of World Cup teams over the past two months.

However, he noted that the real spike in buyers usually occurs as the tournament nears its kick-off and during the first week of competition.

“At the moment, the World Cup atmosphere is not yet in full swing. But we have been selling jerseys of participating countries for the past two months. Typically, the excitement picks up about a week before kick-off and during the first week of the tournament,” said Aditya Wibowo to Tribun Jatim Network on Friday (29 May 2026).

Aditya, as he is familiarly called, added that the 2026 World Cup is one of the most anticipated moments for jersey retailers, as sales almost always increase compared to normal days.

The enthusiasm among the public is considered extremely high every time the world’s biggest football tournament takes place.

“The World Cup is a four-year football festival. It’s the moment we await the most as jersey sellers. Many people buy jerseys of participating nations—not only football fans, but also several companies that encourage their employees to wear national team jerseys on certain days to join in the excitement,” he explained.

He revealed that the most sought-after national team jerseys among customers are those of Argentina, Portugal, France, and Germany.

The popularity of star players, according to him, also influences the high demand for specific teams.

“Currently, the most popular ones are Argentina, Portugal, France, and Germany,” he clarified.

Despite the growing demand, Scudetto has yet to offer any special promotions during the World Cup period.

This is mainly because the heightened demand tends to push jersey prices up, especially when a team progresses to the final stages of the tournament.

“We don’t usually offer promotions because the demand is already high. Prices often adjust when a team reaches the final. On the other hand, jerseys of teams eliminated in the group stage usually see their prices drop. This is a recurring seasonal pattern observed across suppliers, distributors, agents, and retailers,” he explained.

Monitoring the Market Closely

Aditya admitted that it is still too early to predict which team’s jersey will dominate sales until the final.

He prefers to monitor the progress of the group stage matches before deciding to increase stock for certain teams.

“I can’t make any predictions yet. We usually observe the group stage and watch how the teams perform. As traders, we always monitor developments closely, so we don’t rush to stock up on teams that look strong on paper—because if they are unexpectedly knocked out, sales could drop sharply,” he added.

Scudetto also manufactures football jerseys, even for international clients.

One of the professional clubs from the Timor Leste League, Karketu Dili FC, partnered with Scudetto apparel last season.
