The Egypt national football team has officially announced its 26-player squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scheduled to take place from 11 June to 19 July 2026.

The announcement was made through the team’s official Instagram account, @egyptnt, on Sunday, 31 May 2026.

Egypt’s return to the World Cup after missing the 2022 edition marks a significant milestone for Hossam Hassan’s side.

Head coach Hossam Hassan has entrusted Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah with the captain’s armband to lead Egypt in the 2026 World Cup.

With over 100 international appearances, Salah is expected to be a decisive figure and a mentor for the younger players in the squad.

In the attacking department, Salah will be supported by Omar Marmoush, who currently plays for Manchester City.

Marmoush is regarded as one of the most exciting players to watch due to his pace, dribbling ability, and sharpness in front of goal.

The combination of Salah and Marmoush is predicted to be Egypt’s key weapon in breaking down opposing defences throughout the tournament.

In midfield, the Pharaohs will rely on Marwan Attia and Emam Ashour from Al Ahly, Ahmed Sayed Zizo from Zamalek, and Mahmoud Trezeguet from Trabzonspor.

The defensive line will be marshalled by Mohamed Abdelmonem, who currently plays for OGC Nice.

One of the biggest surprises in the squad is the inclusion of 18-year-old Hamza Abdel Karim.

The young forward, who plays for Barcelona U-19, is among the youngest players to feature in the 2026 World Cup squad.

Hamza has impressed during his loan spell from Al Ahly, scoring 9 goals and providing 3 assists in 11 matches.

His outstanding performances earned him a spot in Hossam Hassan’s final selection for the tournament.

With the experience of Mohamed Salah, the attacking prowess of Omar Marmoush, and the youthful energy of Hamza Abdel Karim, Egypt aims to deliver a competitive performance in the 2026 World Cup.
