Manchester United have reportedly turned their attention to Al-Ittihad winger Moussa Diaby, sparking speculation about a potential return to European football for the French forward.

Although United’s transfer strategy has been centred around signing players with Premier League experience, their top targets, including Eli Junior Kroupi and Iliman Ndiaye, may be financially out of reach this summer, as the club is prioritising an overhaul of its midfield options.

Consequently, the Red Devils have started exploring the possibility of signing a player who has already made his mark in the Premier League.

According to reports from French outlet MediaFoot, Manchester United are considering a move for Moussa Diaby, who has “not been forgotten” by European clubs despite his move to Saudi Arabia.

The 26-year-old French winger joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad from Aston Villa in 2024 and has since thrived, contributing directly to 42 goals in 71 appearances for the club.

During his time in England, Diaby impressed under Unai Emery at Aston Villa, showcasing his exceptional pace, dribbling ability, and adaptability across the front line.

A graduate of Paris Saint-Germain’s renowned youth academy, Diaby made 34 first-team appearances for the French giants before moving abroad to pursue regular football.

Now, a return to Europe could be on the cards, with Manchester United, Inter Milan, and AC Milan all reportedly keeping tabs on his situation.

Diaby remains under contract with Al-Ittihad until 2029, but the Saudi club are said to be open to negotiating his departure should they receive a satisfactory offer.

Alongside Diaby, United are also monitoring Aston Villa’s current attacking talent, Morgan Rogers.

The English forward is highly regarded by Manchester United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, while manager Michael Carrick is believed to be eager for a reunion with the player he previously coached at Middlesbrough.

Although Aston Villa are open to selling Rogers, they are demanding a transfer fee in the region of £80 million. This high valuation could prompt Manchester United to intensify their interest in more affordable alternatives such as Diaby.
