TVRI Kalbar Urges Official Registration for World Cup 2026 Public Screenings

Acting Head of TVRI West Kalimantan Station, Sugeng Widiyanto, has urged the public who wish to organise public viewing (nobar) events for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to register and obtain official permission.

This measure aims to ensure that public viewing activities are orderly and properly monitored.

Sugeng stated that the public is welcome to join the viewing event held at the TVRI Kalbar office courtyard.

However, for those wishing to host independent viewings either in neighbourhoods or business premises, registration remains mandatory.

“For residents who want to join the public viewing at the TVRI courtyard, please do so. For those organising it independently elsewhere, registration is required,” he told TribunPontianak.co.id at the TVRI office on Jalan Jenderal Ahmad Yani, Pontianak, on Monday, 1 June 2026.

He explained that the registration process will include verification by authorised bodies.

TVRI is cooperating with law enforcement agencies to conduct nationwide supervision.

“There will be cross-checks from the authorities as we are collaborating with the National Criminal Investigation Department and the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) for nationwide verification,” he added.

According to Sugeng, regional TVRI stations play a role in disseminating information about World Cup broadcasts to the public.

Meanwhile, supervision of public viewing events continues to ensure compliance with regulations.

“Our role in the region is to spread information that the World Cup is available on TVRI,” he said.

He emphasised that all public viewing events, including those at the neighbourhood level, must have official permits.

As of now, 12 registered viewing points across West Kalimantan have been verified and are being monitored.

Some of these venues include Bornean House in Kayong Utara, L7 Cafe and Coza PIL in Kubu Raya, Food Street UMKM in Mempawah, and several cafes and outdoor locations in Sanggau, Sekadau, Sintang, Pontianak, and Singkawang.

Sugeng also advised the public to prioritise registration for non-commercial viewing events to allow better supervision, while commercial activities such as those in cafes are subject to specific regulations.

“I encourage residents to register non-commercial public viewings so they can be monitored accordingly. Commercial ones, like those in cafes, follow separate rules,” he concluded.
