The Qatar national football team has officially announced the 26 players who will represent the country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Nicknamed Al-Annabi, the team had earlier listed 28 players in their provisional squad for a training camp ahead of the tournament.

The players were part of Qatar’s friendly match against the Republic of Ireland on Saturday, 29 May 2026.

In that match, Julen Lopetegui’s side suffered a narrow 0-1 defeat.

Following the friendly, the Spanish coach trimmed two names from the provisional list and confirmed the final 26-man roster bound for the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Star players such as Akram Afif and Almoez Ali are among those included, alongside veteran Hassan Al-Haydos, who holds the record for the most appearances in Qatar’s history.

The trio will be the key attacking force for Al-Annabi as they aim to find the back of the net in the upcoming tournament.

They are also the top active goal scorers in the current Qatar squad.

Beyond these three, Lopetegui has also selected around 11 naturalised players for the 2026 World Cup campaign.

These naturalised players are spread across all positions — goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and forwards.

In goal, Meshaal Barsham, who plays for Al-Sadd and was born in Khartoum, Sudan, has been included.

In defence, the naturalised players include Issa Laye (originally from Senegal), Lucas Mendes (Brazil), Pedro Miguel (Portugal), and Boualem Khoukhi (Algeria).

The midfield sees the inclusion of Assim Madibo (Sudan), Ahmed Fathy (Egypt), and Karim Boudiaf (France).

For the attacking department, Lopetegui has called up Yusuf Abdurisag (Somalia), Mohammed Muntari (Ghana), and Edmilson (Belgium).

These naturalised players are expected to strengthen Qatar’s performance after their disappointing campaign at the 2022 World Cup.

As hosts of the 2022 edition, Qatar endured a tough tournament, becoming the first host nation to lose all their group stage matches.

They lost all three games, scoring only one goal while conceding seven.

This poor record is something they aim to improve at the 2026 World Cup, where Qatar has been drawn in Group B alongside hosts Canada, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Switzerland.

Here is the list of 26 players selected by Julen Lopetegui for Qatar’s 2026 World Cup campaign:
