Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has issued a sharp response this week to the growing criticism surrounding the club.

His comments come amid claims that supporters and pundits have been setting unrealistic expectations for the Spanish giants year after year.

Real Madrid recently concluded a disappointing 2025/26 season. Under the stewardship of both Xabi Alonso and Álvaro Arbeloa, Los Blancos failed to find consistency, struggling both on and off the field.

The campaign resulted in a second consecutive season without silverware — an outcome considered unacceptable by many connected to the club.

The backlash directed at everyone involved with Real Madrid has been intense, with calls for sweeping changes from the boardroom to the squad.

However, Pérez believes that the criticism has been exaggerated and has urged calm among the fanbase and media.

Speaking to reporters earlier this week, the club president stated:

“There’s no need to lose perspective. Expecting to win the Champions League every single year is simply ridiculous. Winning six trophies in ten years is something unprecedented.”
