Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad Gujarat Titans by winning by five wickets against Indian Premier League Created history by successfully defending the title. While there was celebration among fans across India, supporters in Bangalore will not be experiencing the traditional victory parade.
After winning consecutive IPL titles, many fans had expected celebrations to be held in Bangalore similar to the grand celebrations seen after title wins in other sports leagues. However, reports suggest that the RCB management has decided not to hold the victory parade in the city.
This decision has been taken after considering security concerns. Large public celebrations often attract huge crowds, and the franchise has expressed a desire to ensure that supporters can celebrate responsibly without any untoward incidents. Although winning the title has excited RCB fans, the franchise appears determined to avoid situations that compromise public safety.
Importantly, this decision by RCB is closely linked to the tragic events that followed after winning their maiden IPL title in 2025. During the celebrations near the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, a huge crowd gathered to welcome the team and take part in the festivities. The ceremony was supposed to be a historic moment for the franchise and its supporters, but a stampede resulted in the loss of eleven lives. The incident shocked the cricket world and led to widespread criticism regarding crowd management and the planning of the event.
This tragedy cast a shadow over what should have been one of the happiest moments in franchise history. Even after a year, these memories remain deeply emotional for the players, management and fans.
After RCB’s successful title defence, the captain Rajat Patidar talked about the recent title win and reflected on the heartbreaking events of 2025. Patidar admitted that the joy of lifting another IPL trophy was tinged with memories of those who lost their lives during the celebrations after the previous title win. The captain dedicated the feat to the victims and their families, highlighting the emotional significance of the occasion.
“Of course, you feel bad. You lose your fans after winning the game. Not just fans, they are family members. I always want to dedicate this trophy to them. That’s all. I don’t have words to express that feeling,” Patidar said.
His heartfelt comments resonated with supporters, many of whom still remember the victims while celebrating the team’s on-field success.
