The summer transfer window hasn’t officially opened yet, but that hasn’t stopped some of Europe’s top clubs from splashing the cash early.
While the official opening date is June 15, numerous deals have already been confirmed, with several players unveiled by their new teams. All the completed Premier League transfers have been recorded so far.
Additionally, several loan agreements made in previous windows are being converted into permanent signings this summer, either through contractual obligations or optional clauses.
Here’s a look at the 20 biggest football transfers completed around the world so far this summer.
Few expected this move, but the England winger has always been admired by those who recognise top talent. There’s some debate over potential add-ons in the deal, and Manchester United will surely be watching closely when Barcelona claim financial difficulties over Marcus Rashford.
Jacquet has joined under Arne Slot’s management but will likely play a significant role for Andoni Iraola, especially with Ibrahima Konate’s departure following Slot’s exit from Anfield. The French Under-21 defender is expected to return to full fitness for pre-season after being sidelined since February.
Hincapie’s loan spell at Arsenal is set to become a permanent transfer, although there are rumours that Barcelona could make a move for him soon after. The question remains—how many financial levers can the Catalan club still pull?
Though this agreement was reached back in March 2025, Quenda stayed in Lisbon until this summer, while Dario Essugo joined Chelsea earlier. Despite being limited to only 12 league and Champions League starts due to a metatarsal injury, the winger still contributed four goals and seven assists.
Manchester United recouped half of their investment in Rasmus Hojlund when Napoli’s Champions League qualification triggered a compulsory purchase clause for the Danish striker.
Juventus are also obligated to make Loïs Openda’s transfer permanent, despite a difficult debut season in Turin where he netted only once in Serie A and played just five league minutes after February.
Turkish midfielder Orkun Kocku returned home on loan to Besiktas last summer, and the club is now required to finalise the permanent move. The Istanbul side are content with that, particularly if Kocku impresses at the upcoming World Cup and attracts Premier League suitors. He’s shown promising form in pre-tournament friendlies.
Sporting CP shattered the Portuguese domestic transfer record by signing Uruguayan midfielder Zalazar from Braga, marking the largest-ever fee exchanged between two clubs in the country.
The Dutch striker has been on fire in Serie A, scoring 14 goals in 18 games since joining on loan from Aston Villa in January.
Paris Saint-Germain reportedly beat competition from Manchester United and Newcastle United to secure the signing of a young midfielder who was bought by Reims for just £100,000 two years earlier.
Everton’s survival in the Premier League activated their obligation to buy the German midfielder permanently, after he started six matches—four of which came in the final stretch of the season.
Sudakov’s form dipped after an impressive start at Benfica, though it’s understandable given the trauma he faced last September when his Kyiv apartment was struck by Russian drones while his wife and child were at home.
This transfer was finalised in March, sparking protests from Borussia Mönchengladbach supporters when their captain continued to wear the armband against his future club in April.
Promising French defender Gadou, who came through Paris Saint-Germain’s academy, never made a senior appearance before moving to Red Bull Salzburg in 2024. He became a key player there, drawing comparisons to Dayot Upamecano.
The full-back’s permanent transfer was triggered after he met the required appearance threshold, though he currently faces suspension pending an investigation into his social media activity.
Crystal Palace had shown interest in the teenage striker before Fenerbahce secured his signature in January. Cherif has since scored two league goals for the Turkish giants.
The centre-back joined Roberto De Zerbi’s side last summer and was openly frustrated when the manager left mid-season, admitting, “I was deeply angered. I was furious.”
The 19-year-old defender has been a consistent presence for Red Bull Salzburg, who have now sold two teenage centre-backs this summer for a combined total exceeding £30 million.
FC Porto confirmed in early May that they would exercise their option to sign the centre-back from Arsenal. Should performance-related add-ons be met, Arsenal could recover the £17 million they initially spent on him from Spezia.
The Moroccan attacking midfielder will feature both at the World Cup and in the Champions League with Stuttgart, while his former club Leicester City face the challenge of life in League One.
