Just a few years ago, the term ‘artificial intelligence’ was part of science fiction. Now it is very real. The situation started to change after the debut of ChatGPT in 2022. Incidentally, since the beginning, the debate has surrounded ChatGP. A part of the informed circles said that soon this chatbot will take away the jobs of many people. Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, practically accepted this. Later, however, he also said that AI will also create new jobs. But the new picture emerging is terrible! It is said that artificial intelligence will consume 90 percent of jobs by 2032! Do not leave electricians, plumbers!
In a new report, Cognizant reports that generative AI is beginning to impact the workplace much earlier than expected. What was earlier thought to take 9 years, has happened in less than 3 years. The situation will become more dire within the next six years.
However, it was thought that AI will not be able to influence all types of jobs. But as time goes by it is also proved wrong. “No one is safe,” says Ollie O’Donoghue, principal researcher at Cognizant. He says, “Electricians or plumbers will also have to change themselves in the AI era. However, plumbers will still have to work with their hands. Although many things will be done by AI in the meantime.” To clarify, he explains, “The plumber will definitely have to turn the wrench. But the actual process of plumbing will change. That means, the plumber will fix the pipe. But the problem diagnosis and the helpful steps, even the next steps… are increasingly being done with the help of artificial intelligence.” All in all, the picture of panic is emerging.
