New Delhi: Big changes were not seen in the world of personal computers for a long time, but now Artificial Intelligence (AI) is going to change the picture of this field. Tech companies are preparing such devices which are not limited to just traditional computing but can also handle AI based tasks faster and better. In this direction, Microsoft has introduced its new flagship device Surface Laptop Ultra, which the company is calling the most powerful Surface Laptop till date.

This new laptop is equipped with Nvidia’s new RTX Spark Super chip, which was recently introduced during Computex 2026. It is believed that this device can set a new standard for AI computing and high-performance workloads.

Curiosity increased about Surface Laptop Ultra

According to Microsoft, Surface Laptop Ultra is designed for users who need a powerful machine for heavy computing, AI models, graphics processing and professional workflows. In its official information, the company has described it as the most powerful laptop of the Surface series. Its initial pictures also indicate that the device will be a great blend of premium design and modern technology. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has also indicated that more information about this device will be shared during the company’s Build event.

Powerful performance and AI capabilities

The biggest feature of Surface Laptop Ultra is its new RTX Spark chip. This chip has been specially designed keeping in mind AI based tasks and high-end computing needs. According to reports, it has a combination of 20 CPU cores and 6,144 GPU cores. Additionally, it can provide AI computing capacity up to approximately 1 petaflop, making it extremely capable for AI development and machine learning tasks. The company claims that its graphics performance can be close to RTX 5070 laptop GPU, so that tasks like gaming, video editing and 3D design can be done easily.

Up to 128GB RAM and better multitasking

The laptop is expected to have up to 128GB of LPDDR5X unified memory. The advantage of unified memory is that CPU and GPU can share the same memory as per need. This technology will provide better performance in running large AI models, software development, video rendering and using multiple heavy applications simultaneously. Additionally, CUDA support will also be available, which is considered useful in AI and professional computing tasks. The device is also likely to have a dual-fan cooling system, which will help in maintaining high performance for a long time.

The primary focus of the RTX Spark platform is on agentic AI. The company says that large AI models can be run locally on this hardware. This will allow users to perform many AI tasks on their own devices without relying on the cloud. Keeping security in mind, new AI agent platforms and additional security features have also been added.

Great display and premium design

Information has come to light that Surface Laptop Ultra will have a 15-inch mini-LED touchscreen display. Its pixel density will be 262 PPI and its brightness can reach 2,000 nits in HDR mode. Microsoft claims that this will be the brightest Surface display ever. Apart from this, the weight of the laptop has been kept less than 2.04 kg, due to which it can be carried easily. The device will be available in attractive colors like Platinum and Nightfall. Besides, it will also be provided with the largest haptic touchpad in the Surface series.

Battery and connectivity features

The company says that with the help of RTX Spark chip, this laptop will be able to provide full day battery life. However, official information regarding battery capacity and charging speed has not been revealed yet. For connectivity, it will be provided with many useful ports like USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, full-size SD card slot and headphone jack. Apart from this, Microsoft has also said that the device has been designed keeping in mind easy repair and long durability.

Launch and expected price

Microsoft has not yet disclosed the price of Surface Laptop Ultra. However, the company has confirmed that this device will be made available in the market by the end of 2026. It is noteworthy that this is the second time that Microsoft is partnering with Nvidia on a large scale for a Surface device.
