The budget electric vehicle segment in India is about to get a lot more competitive. French automaker Citroën has officially dropped the first teaser for its upcoming electric car, the eC3X.

Positioned as an updated and heavily rebranded avatar of the current eC3 hatchback, the eC3X is designed to directly challenge dominant players like the Tata Punch EV. Following Citroën’s recent naming conventions—seen in the C3X, Aircross X, and Basalt X—this new model brings premium styling corrections and essential feature upgrades to the table.

Citroën is addressing the minimalist visual appeal of the previous iteration by giving the eC3X a significantly sharper, more premium road presence. The official teasers highlight several key exterior enhancements:

• Refreshed Front Fascia: A newly sculpted front bumper featuring rugged, silver skid-plate-like inserts.

• Modern Illumination: Sleek LED Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) paired with dedicated LED fog lamps.

• Side Profile Enhancements: Redesigned dual-tone alloy wheels and sleek rearview mirrors with seamlessly integrated turn indicators.

The interior of the eC3X receives a comprehensive layout redesign, introducing several highly requested comfort and safety features that were missing in the older model:

• Infotainment: A crisp, large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

• Comfort: Plush, premium leatherette upholstery for a more sophisticated cabin feel, along with adjustable headrests for front-seat passengers.

• Safety Matrix: Equipped with 6 airbags as standard alongside a built-in Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

While the cosmetics and feature lists have gone through a massive overhaul, the core electric powertrain remains identical to the outgoing eC3.

The Delhi-to-Agra Highway Test: With a real-world capability aligned with its 250 km claimed range, the eC3X can comfortably complete a highway run from Delhi to Agra (approximately 230 km) on a single, uninterrupted charge.

With the first official teaser campaign now active, Citroën is expected to formally announce the launch date and price brackets for the eC3X in the coming weeks. By packing in essential tech updates and crucial safety gear, this updated electric hatchback is well-positioned to iron out past flaws and attract a larger share of urban EV buyers.
