Karisma Kapoor is all set to return to screens with Brown, but before the series premieres, the actress has opened up about the support system that has kept her grounded throughout her career. Coming from one of Bollywood's most celebrated film families, Karisma says her loved ones are always excited to watch her work, but they never hesitate to offer honest feedback. In an exclusive conversation with Zoom, the actress revealed that while her sister Kareena Kapoor is one of her biggest cheerleaders, there is one family member who has always been her toughest critic. Karisma also spoke candidly about initially rejecting Brown and the challenges of portraying its complex lead character.

Karisma On Family Support And Honest Feedback

Speaking about her family's reaction to Brown,  said everyone is looking forward to watching the series. "They're very excited and they want to watch it. Like I said, we love it when we see each other's work. For us, it's family. But it's not like, 'Oh, it's my family, so this is very nice.' We tell each other the truth," she said.
The actress explained that honest feedback has always been an important part of her family's dynamic, especially considering how many actors they have in the Kapoor household.
When asked who the harshest critic in the family is, Karisma did not hesitate before naming her mother.
"Honestly, my mother. She would straight away tell me, even back in the day, 'Yeh kya hai?'" she revealed with a laugh. Karisma added that she values such honesty because it helps her grow as an actor. "I think it's important when you get honest feedback from family. I'm lucky enough that we have such brilliant actors in the family anyway, so they give you honest feedback. I think that's important and an amazing quality, that we can see things as they are," she said.

The actress also shared that she and her sister Kareena Kapoor have always been each other's strongest supporters. "I think we both are each other's biggest cheerleaders, whether it's in our profession or outside our profession. Always," she said.
Interestingly, Karisma revealed that she almost never became a part of Brown. During the same conversation, she admitted that her first response to the project was a firm no. Recalling her reaction, the actress said, "I don't act much. I lead my own life. I'm in my own race, at my own pace, in my own lane. I'm not part of any rat race." According to Karisma, the makers kept insisting that she hear the script, but she was reluctant. At the time, she was not interested in travelling to another city for nearly 50 days of shooting. However, everything changed once she finally listened to the story.
Karisma said she immediately felt it was the kind of project that could bring her back to a film set. "It was great fun, but it was also very challenging, and I enjoyed that balance," she explained. Talking about the role, Karisma admitted that portraying a broken and emotionally scarred character pushed her out of her comfort zone.
