Bayern Munich have reportedly reached a full verbal agreement to sign Eintracht Frankfurt’s talented left-back Nathaniel Brown, marking a major step forward in their summer recruitment drive ahead of the World Cup. The Germany international has become a top target for the Bavarian club as new head coach Vincent Kompany works to reshape his squad for the upcoming season.

Kompany has identified Brown as his primary defensive target, and the 22-year-old’s rapid rise at Frankfurt has made him one of the standout young defenders in the Bundesliga. According to Sky Sports, Kompany personally pushed for the deal after holding positive talks with the player. Bayern moved swiftly to secure Brown’s commitment to join the Allianz Arena side.

Currently with the Germany national team in Chicago as they prepare for the World Cup and a friendly against the USA, Brown is believed to have agreed to a long-term deal that would keep him at Bayern until 2031. The club views him as a dynamic and adaptable full-back capable of playing on either flank or even further forward as a left winger.

However, a final agreement between Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt has not yet been reached. Frankfurt’s sporting director Markus Krosche is standing firm on his €60 million valuation of the defender. That price tag could still prove to be a stumbling block if Bayern are reluctant to meet the financial terms set by their Bundesliga rivals.

The difference in valuation between the two German sides means the transfer remains uncertain. Brown is expected to speak about his future during a scheduled DFB press conference in the United States, adding further intrigue to the situation as negotiations continue.

Meanwhile, Premier League and La Liga interest in the player persists. Arsenal, Manchester City, and Real Madrid have all been tracking Brown for over a year. Should Bayern fail to reach an agreement with Frankfurt, these top clubs could attempt to hijack the move. Arsenal, in particular, view Brown as an ideal fit for their flexible defensive setup. The Athletic reports that the Gunners are keeping close tabs on his situation as part of an elite shortlist of defensive targets.

Brown is coming off an impressive 2025-26 campaign, where he contributed four goals and six assists in 42 appearances for Frankfurt. Despite his strong performances, Frankfurt finished eighth in the Bundesliga, missing out on European football. The chance to join Arsenal, who regularly compete at the highest level, could be a tempting prospect for the young full-back if Bayern’s talks stall.

According to German outlet Bild, Bayern’s pursuit of Brown is complicated by the need to balance their squad. Sporting director Max Eberl must oversee player sales before committing to another major signing. Specifically, Bayern would likely need to offload either Hiroki Ito or Alphonso Davies before being able to fund the €60–65 million required for Brown’s transfer.

For Eintracht Frankfurt, the deal represents a potential financial windfall. The club acquired Brown from Nurnberg in January 2024 for just €3 million, meaning a sale in this window could deliver a massive profit. Whether Bayern can complete the deal before the World Cup, or another European giant steps in, remains to be seen.
