The Real Madrid presidential race has taken a dramatic turn in recent days. Businessman Enrique Riquelme first made headlines by pledging to bring in Erling Haaland and even considering Jurgen Klopp as the club’s new head coach.
On Thursday, however, club president Florentino Perez stunned supporters with a major revelation, confirming that Real Madrid are preparing to complete the most expensive signing in their history.
“I’m going to make an offer to a Champions League club soon, on Tuesday, which will be the biggest payment Real Madrid has ever made for a player, at least 150 million,” Perez stated.
He further clarified, “It’s not Olise — he’s a great player, but it’s not him; it’s not Doku, it’s not Haaland, it’s not Kane. And it’s not from the Premier League. It’s a total Galactico.”
Despite Perez’s comments, reports from Diario AS indicate that three names have emerged as the leading candidates for the record-breaking move: Michael Olise, Vitinha, and Joao Neves.
Olise, the French international with English-Nigerian roots currently playing for Bayern Munich, caught Perez’s attention during the Champions League quarter-final in which Bayern knocked out Real Madrid.
The 24-year-old winger has featured in 107 matches for Bayern, scoring 42 goals and providing 54 assists. He is valued at €150 million and remains under contract until 2029.
The other two names — Vitinha and Joao Neves — are teammates at Paris Saint-Germain.
Vitinha has played a crucial role in PSG’s consecutive Champions League victories, appearing in 50 matches this season while contributing seven goals and ten assists.
Joao Neves, aged just 21, was the standout performer in PSG’s Champions League final win against Arsenal and is valued at around €140 million.
Both players are represented by agent Jorge Mendes, whose renewed relationship with Real Madrid could play a key role in any potential negotiations. However, since PSG are traditionally reluctant to sell their top talents, any deal would likely be challenging.
Although Real Madrid are cautious about straining their relationship with the French champions, Perez has made it clear that he is ready to break the club’s transfer record to secure his next Galactico signing.
